Income Maintenance Unit
Our team determines eligibility and issues benefits for all mandated public assistance programs (this includes cash, food and medical programs), county funded programs and Managed Care. We are also responsible for Fraud Investigation in Scott County.
Our Income Maintenance team is split into the TAC team and the FEDS team. Cases within each team are programmatically and alphabetically distributed.
FEDS stands for Facility, Elderly, Disabled and Some others. The FEDS clients are primarily single/married adults without minor children applying for all programs. Members of this team determine eligibility for Medical Assistance (MA), Group Residential Housing (GRH), General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC and GHO) Transitional MNCare, Minnesota Supplemental Aid (MSA), Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB), Service Limited Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB), General Assistance (GA), Emergency Programs (EGA/EMSA), Food Support (FS), Managed Care, Long Term Care Facilities, Asset Assessments and County Burial.

The FEDS workers for the Long Term Care, Elderly Waiver and Adult Waiver programs remain at the Scott County Government Center. This Team is located on the third floor/Health and Human Services Division at the Scott County Government Center, 200 Fourth Avenue West, Shakopee, MN 55379. The general phone number is 952-445-7751.
TAC stands for Transitional Assistance Coordinators. Our customers are primarily families with children applying for cash, food support, healthcare, emergency programs and child care assistance. Members of this team determine eligibility for Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), Diversionary Work Program (DWP), Food Support (FS), Crisis Funds (Scott County’s Emergency Assistance Program for Families), Medical Assistance (MA), General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC and GHO), Transitional MNCare and other programs as necessary when connected to our family cases. Two members of the TAC team administer the Child Care Assistance Programs (CCAP). They determine eligibility for all Child Care programs. The Scott County Fraud Unit actively pursues and investigates cases suspected of having fraudulent activity. Receipt of benefits such as Food Support, Cash Assistance, Medical Assistance and Childcare may be based upon who is living in the home and the income and/or assets of all or some of the household residents.
