Scott County Environmental Health and Inspections Department
Back in 1978, Scott County found itself facing several environmental challenges. A local hazardous waste collection and incineration business had recently suffered a catastrophic fire, and the site now presented a huge cleanup nightmare.
Throughout the county, septic systems were failing and groundwater was beginning to be impacted – the very same groundwater that each and every resident of Scott County depended upon for their supply of safe drinking water. It was time for a change, and the County responded by creating the Scott County Environmental Health Department.
