What is a “RE-USE Room” …..and where is it located?

The RE-USE Room is located within the Scott County HHW Facility. It is a place where residents and businesses can look through thousands of household products, all of which are available FREE of charge! These are products, still in good usable condition, that have been dropped-off at the HHW Facility by residents who don’t need them anymore. Among the most commonly found items in the RE-USE Room are interior and exterior latex house paint (in a wide variety of colors), stain and varnish, spray paint, automotive products (such as antifreeze and other fluids, oils and lubricants, waxes and cleaners, etc), various lawn and garden products, and assorted household items (cleaning chemicals, several tile products, caulk, adhesives, putty, etc).

A wide variety of interior latex paint is available for your home!

A good selection of stain and finish is available for your next project!

Exterior latex paint is available for your house, garage, shed, or fence!

Various automotive, yard and garden, and household products are all available…..for FREE!

The RE-USE Room contains good usable items that other people did not need. But, one persons "surplus material" might end up being exactly what you need! By re-using these items, we are not only saving ourselves money by not having to purchase the products, but we are also saving tax dollars by reducing hazardous waste disposal fees for the County. And last, but not least, we are also conserving our valuable resources.

Our RE-USE Room is open Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 5:45 p.m., Thursday from 12:00 noon to 3:45 p.m., and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m..  You must be 18 years of age or older to shop in the RE-USE Room, or be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Last year, Scott County gave away over 80,000 lbs of good usable products to residents through our RE-USE Room.
