Recycling your Used Electronics!

Is your old TV being used as an end table, while your retired computer is doubling as a plant stand? Do you have a closet or garage full of out-dated electronics, or a drawer full of old cell phones? With new technology being introduced at a dizzying pace, you might find yourself thinking that it is finally time to clean out that pile of old, no-longer-used electronic devices!

You are not alone in struggling with the growing problem of old and obsolete electronics. Fortunately Scott County is now offering proper management (recycling and disposal) of your used electronics through the Scott County HHW Program for a small fee. Simply bring your used consumer electronics (stereos and stereo components, computers and computer components, televisions, VCRs, DVD players and recorders, etc.) to the Scott County HHW Facility on Wednesday (12 noon to 6 pm), Thursday (12 noon to 4 pm), or Saturday (8 am to 12 noon). Please note, you must bring a check (preferred) or cash to drop off these items, as the HHW Facility cannot accept credit cards at this time.

    • For more information on national programs, visit the EPA Used Electronics web site.
