County Highway 2 and I-35
Interchange Footprint Study
Project Overview
The interchange of CSAH 2 at I-35 is a vital transportation connection for future growth in the community and region. The population of the City of Elko New Market is anticipated to grow to 20,800 by 2030. This growth will create the need for future transportation system improvements in the area.
If the anticipated growth occurs, the existing interchange bridge and ramps will no longer be able to accommodate the traffic and will need to be improved.
Scott County, the City of Elko New Market, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation are cooperatively working on this study to plan for the future transportation system needs. The interchange reconstruction at CSAH 2 and I-35 is currently not identified in the state or county 20-year plans as a project, and work from this effort will be used in future plan updates.
