As part of the Scott County Meth Task Force’s education and outreach efforts, the county decided to partner with CLIMB Theatre to produce and perform an original work that addressed the ravages of Meth for all middle and high school students in the County. During the months of March-May 2006, CLIMB Theatre was able to reach an estimated 4,900 students in grades 7-10. Also on May 8th and 9th CLIMB performed the play and the County conducted community events that we attended by an estimated 500 community members. The program generated significant support, here are some of the comments that the County and CLIMB Theatre heard for their performances:
“Please tell you actors that they did a fabulous job. One thing that has happened since your presentation is kids don’t joke around anymore about drugs. I really wanted to tell all of the people at CLIMB thank you and great job.”

“I observed your group in the classroom and the style of presentation was extremely enthusiastic and really got the kids engaged. I also do presentations for kids as the counselor, I was able to see how your presentation style can really get kids excited. I wrote down several of techniques and plan to use many of them in a similar way. Thank you.”

“This was the 7th CLIMB production I have seen. It is by far the best acted, produced and directed. Their professionalism and ability to adjust their format in the classroom follow-up was totally impressive. Kudos.”
-Teacher Belle Plaine Middle School Belle Plaine, MN
“This was one of the most effective presentations we’ve had. The breakout sessions really add to the ‘teaching moment’. Now we are going to expect all lyceums to be at this high level, the bar has been raised.”
-Teacher, Jordan Middle School Jordan, MN
“CLIMB Theatre has always been known for high quality educational performances. This was a very well written drama that needs to be filmed and available for every parent in America to see.”
-Matt Hillman Belle Plaine Middle School Belle Plaine, MN
“As educators, we can always tell when our lessons hit home-the students listen attentively at the edge of their seats. We certainly observed this at the CLIMB presentation. This program very likely saved lives a few years down the road. Thank you to all of the people who made this program a success.”
