Youth Program
The Youth Program provides summer and year-round work experience and academic enrichment activities. Participants have services available to assist them in areas such as developing work maturity skills, writing a resume and learning how to interview for a job, problem solving skills and counseling and support services.
The year-round programs concentrate on out of school youth, serving 16-21 year olds that have not completed high school. School completion, education and career planning, job search assistance, work-based experience, and support services are available.
The Scott County Summer Youth Program serves low income and targeted youth that are 14-24 years old. During the summer, basic academic skills can be improved while earning school credit. The Summer Program offers community service jobs in which a young worker can get applied work-based learning while earning a paycheck. Applications for the Summer Program are available in school guidance offices or (after April 15th). Click on the Youth Programs button, left of this page, to fill out an on-line application.
Dislocated Worker Program
Finding a new job can be stressful or overwhelming. Many workers who lose a job through no fault of their own need some help returning to work. The Minnesota Dislocated Worker Program offers free services to help eligible individuals find suitable reemployment. Services are tailored to address individual needs and goals for employment. You may be eligible for this program if you are out of work through no fault of your own, eligible for Unemployment Insurance, and unlikely to return to your previous occupation or industry.
Older Worker Program (SCSEP)
The Senior Community Service Employment Program provides part-time community service jobs for people 55 years of age or older who meet income guidelines. The purpose of SCSEP is to give participants the opportunity to enhance their skills to promote placement into unsubsidized jobs. Worksite placements are made on an individual basis to match the applicant’s talents and interests to the worksite. Wages of $6.15 and Workers' Compensation are paid by the program. There are also a variety of community resources available for seniors.
Minnesota Family Investment Program Employment Services (MFIP-ES)
MFIP is Minnesota's welfare reform program for families with children. The MFIP cash grant includes both cash and food benefits. This program expects parents to work and provides parents supports while job-seeking and when they become employed. A wide array of employment services is available to families required to look for work. MFIP participants work with an Employment Counselor to develop an Employment Plan.
Diversionary Work Program Employment Services (DWP-ES)
DWP is a short-term (up to four months) work-focused program which requires immediate participation with Employment Services. The primary program goal is to provide short-term public assistance benefits and intensive work supports to people and to assist them to find employment. DWP participants work with an Employment Counselor to develop an Employment Plan and receive job search assistance.
Food Support Employment and Training (FSET)
FSET is a mandatory employment and training program for eligible Food Support recipients. Participants receive help in finding or upgrading their employment.
