On April 17, 2019 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Scott County Dispatch was notified of a power outage and smoke at a house located in the 6000 block of White Drive in Credit River Township.
When emergency responders arrived on scene, they observed smoke and flames emitting from a gas meter near the rear of the home.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire; however, the home suffered significant damage. All residents present at the time were evacuated safely and there were no injuries to the residents or first responders.
Initial investigation shows that the fire may have been caused by a lightning strike.
No foul play is suspected and the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office was advised.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Prior Lake Fire Department, Shakopee Fire Department, Savage Fire Department, Mdewakanton Public Safety, Lakeville Fire Department, Burnsville Fire Department, Prior Lake Police Department and Allina Ambulance.
